 Please note...  all workshops are beginners friendly, unless stated otherwise.  Prices include all materials as well as cuppas and cake.  Payment is required at time of booking either by visiting The Art Room, phoning Rachel on 07834228054, or emailing rachel@the-art-room.co.uk and asking for the details to perform a transfer.

Beginners Crochet with Sue Hall

Saturday 18th March 2pm - 4.30pm, £25

 

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners looking to learn basic stitches, how to read patterns and charts, and how to "talk crochet".  If theres time, you might also be able to make a small gift bag or a coaster too...  This class is an introduction to this adaptable, flexible skill and youll receive a starter pack as well as various handouts, so you can carry on at home in your own time.

Tuesday 21st March 6.30pm - 8.30pm, £35

 

Kirsten (formally of Shabby Dabby Doo) will introduce you to the Frenchic furniture paint range and take you through the step by step process of upcycling furniture.  Please bring a small piece of furniture to work your magic on!  Participants will also receive sample paint to take away as well as a discount if purchasing more.

Felt Art with Fiona Moir

Saturday 25th March 10am - 12.30pm, £28

 

Fiona will demonstrate how she works when wet felting and guide you through the process of creating your own piece of felt art using a range of wools and silks. This is a beautifully vibrant approach to making images and is an exciting alternative from the more common use of pencils, pastels and paint.

Trichinopoly (Viking Knitting) with Simon Lidwell

Tuesday 28th March 6.30pm - 8.30pm, £20

 

Trichinopoly, aka Viking Knitting, uses ordinary household tools to transform scrap metal into something of remarkable beauty.  Learn to make jewellery using this thousand year old technique, turning many hairs of wire into a brilliant, intricate bracelet to give to a loved one or keep for yourself!

Advanced Furniture Makeover Techniques

with Mala Interiors

Tuesday 18th April 6.30pm - 8.30pm, £35

 

Kirsten (formally of Shabby Dabby Doo) will be covering the layering of paints and the art of choosing complimentary colours, as well as the techniques of wet distressing and stenciling.  All with the lovely Frenchic paint of course!  Please bring a small piece of furniture to work your magic on - painted, or in its original form.

More Than Just A Granny Square with Sue Hall

Saturday 22nd April 2pm - 4.30pm, £25

 

This is a workshop for improvers (if you can chain and do treble crochet youll be fine!), or if youre looking to expand your crochet repertoire with more contemporary designs.  Granny squares are an extremely versatile approach to

crocheting...  use yours to make a unique blanket, useful basket, or stunning cushion.  All materials & patterns will be provided,  as will lots of colour!

 

 

Celtic Knotwork with Simon Lidwell

Not only an art lesson - a history lesson too!  Simon will share his knowledge of Scotland's past & talk about the story of celtic knots & their various types.  You'll then have the opportunity to create your own with Simon's expertise at hand.

A white canvas can be a very intimidating thing...  which is why a simple guide to follow can be useful, to voyage onwards with confidence.  You'll be taken through this step-by-step process and meet colour mixing, tone & texture along the way.  By the end of session two you should be well on the way with your oil painting, but extra time and help can be arranged if the time flies too much.  These sessions are for beginners or those who need some extra inspiration in picking up art again.  All materials will be provided.
